Access room as a guest

Follow these instructions to access a Blackboard Collaborate session if you have been provided with a guest access URL. 

  1. Plug in your headset or turn on built in microphone and speakers.Try watching a YouTube video or listening to music from your computer to make sure audio is working. If you have trouble, try restarting your computer.
  2. Go to the guest access URL that was given to you. Note: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra works best in Google Chrome. 
  3. If prompted, enter your name and click Submit:

  4. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the session, and click Join Session. 
    In your Blackboard Collaborate session, click Audio Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to optimize your audio. 
  5. You are ready to participate!Blackboard suggests that you use Google Chrome browser in order to have the best experience in Collaborate Ultra. If you choose to enter the room using a different browser (Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc.), the following message will appear. You can choose to continue using a non-Chrome browser by clicking the "x" in the upper right area of the message or attempt to enter the room using Google Chrome.Image Added
  6. Non-Chrome users will be prompted to test their microphone and camera. Click Yes to start testing.

  7. Click the radio button next to Allow to give Collaborate permission to access your microphone and camera.

  8. Click Close after you have selected the allow option.

6. On the Audio Test page, select a particular microphone by clicking on the drop-down menu.

7. Select the appropriate microphone option.

8. Begin speaking into the microphone. Note if the audio bar moves when you speak.

9. Click Yes-It's working if the audio bar moves.

*Please note: If the audio bar does not move, click No-I need help to be directed to a Blackboard support page or adjust your computer's microphone in your system sound preference settings.

10. Click on the camera option bar to select the appropriate camera.

11. After selecting the appropriate camera, click Yes-It's working if your image appears.
