Upload Files to Content Area

  1. With Edit Mode ON, hover Navigate to the Content Area in your Blackboard course where you would like to add the link to download the file.
  2. Hover your cursor over the Build Content button to open a drop-down menu.

  3. Click the File link on the drop-down menu. This will open the Create File page.

  4. On the Create File page, provide enter a name for the file in Blackboardinto the Name textbox. This name appears in the course area as a download link.

  5. Click Browse My Computer to upload a file from your computer. A window of will open which displays your computer files appears.

  6. Select the file you wish to upload. Click on Open or Choose (language varies amongst between browsers).

  7. The selected Information on the file information will appear in Blackboard next to Selected File once the file has uploaded successfully.

  8.  Select the File Options:
    1. Click Yes
     to

     if you wish to display the content in a new browser window.

    1. Ignore Add . This options prevents students from accidentally closing Blackboard when they download the file.

  9. Select the the Standard Options for the Item:

    1. Click Select Yes  to next to Permit Users to View this Content if the content is ready to viewed by students. Select NO, No if students should not . Click Yes or No to track number of viewshave access to this file. If you are using Date and Time Restrictions, set this option to Yes.
    2. Select Yes next to Track Number of Views. This will allow you to track how many students have downloaded the file at a later date.
    3. Select dates and times to Display After and Display Until, if you desire to add date restrictions to this Itemthis Item.
      1. Display restrictions do not affect item availability, only when it appears.
    Click Submit.

    1. Display after is the date the item will become visible to students, and Display until is the date it will no longer be available to students. If you leave these options blank, the file will be available immediately.
  10. Click the Submit button to create the download link in your course Content Area.
