You may find that there are times when you will need to give a student an extension so that they can take an exam/test/quiz Exam, Test, or Quiz after the test's due date. You can do this without changing the due date for every other student in the course by creating an Exception.
1. To create an Exception to give a student a date extension for a test, locate the test in your course. Then , click on the action link for the test (button with a chevron) and select Edit the Test Options from the drop-down menu.
2. If you did not have "Display Until" checked, check it now, and make the date the same as the due date. Make sure "Do not allow students to start the Test if the due date has passed" is NOT checked. (Checking this will over-ride the extension that you will be giving to the student. As long as "Display Until" is the same as the Due Date, then all other students will not be able to view or access the test after the due date. Students will still be able to view their test results in My Grades.)
3. Under the Section " Test Availability Exceptions," click on Add User or Group.
4. Select the student that needs the extension. Then, click the Submit button.
5.Click on the calendar icon under Availability.
6. Set the "Until" date for the extension. After this date has passed the student will lose access to the test. Click Save in the Availability box,
7. Scroll down and Click Submit.
8. A message indicating that your test options have been edited should appear above the location name.
