Record Feedback Comments

Instructors can include audio/video recordings up to five minutes long with their feedback for graded assignments. These can be recorded directly through Blackboard. Recorded comments are not currently supported when grading with a rubric or with certain browsers (Firefox and Chrome are recommended).

  1. Enter the grading screen for the assignment
  2. Click the small bar with an arrow under the Attempt box in the Grading Panel to open the Feedback to Learner section.

  3. Click the text icon (A) below the feedback text box to open the text editor.

  4. Click the microphone icon to open the recording window.

  5. Click the Allow button on the pop-up window to allow Blackboard to access your microphone and/or camera for the recording. This pop-up window may appear differently depending on your browser.
    1. Firefox:
    2. Chrome:
  6. If you would like to record video, click the camera icon at the bottom of the window. To record an audio-only comment, do not click on the camera icon.
  7. When you are ready to record, click the red circle icon at the bottom of the screen. This will start a short countdown. Begin recording your comment once the countdown completes.
    1. Click the Pause Recording button to temporarily stop the recording. Click the Resume Recording button to continue after pausing.
  8. Click the Stop Recording Button when you are done recording. You will be able to review your recording at this stage.
  9. Click the Save and exit button to save the recording.
  10. Rename the recording if needed. By default, the recording's name is based on the time and date.
  11. Click Insert Recording to complete the process and insert the recording into the feedback box.
