The following images and instructions will guide you through the process of editing audio and video settings in Blackboard Collaborate.


  1. To edit your audio or video settings, click My Settings at the bottom of Collaborate window.

  2. The "My Settings" box will appear on the right side of the Collaborate window. Click on the "Audio and Video Settings" arrow to expand the audio and video option.

  3. Speak to test Collaborate's default audio settings. If an audio bar does not appear, click the drop-down menu to choose another microphone option.

  4. Select another microphone option from the drop-down menu.

  5. Test the new option by speaking into the device. If the audio bar appears and moves when you speak, your device is working. If an audio bar does not appear, select another device from the drop-down menu until the bar appears.

  6. Click Yes-It's working if the audio bar moves. If the audio bar does not move, click No-I need help to be directed to a Blackboard support page or adjust your computer's microphone in your system sound preference settings.

  7. Click on the camera option bar to select the appropriate camera. When you can see yourself, you have selected the correct camera and the video is working.

  8. After selecting the appropriate camera, click Yes-It's working if your image appears. If you cannot get your camera to work properly, click No-I need help to be directed to a Blackboard support page.

  9. After the appropriate microphone and video camera devices are selected, move the speaker or microphone sliders to adjust the volume on your respective devices.
