Can't Create Short Answer or Essay Test Questions

There is currently a bug in Blackboard Learn which will prevent you from creating short answer or essay test questions. Follow the steps below for a workaround.

  1.  In the Course Management area of your course menu, click on Course Tools, and select Tests, Surveys, and Pools. 
    Click Tests, Surveys, and Pools
  2. Click Tests. 
    Click Tests
  3. Click on the ActionLink for the test you would like to edit, and select Edit. 
    Click action link next to the test you want to edit, then click edit
  4. Click Question Settings.

  5. Uncheck the Question Metadata box.

  6. Click Submit. 
    Click submit
  7. Add any short answer or essay questions you would like to use. 

  8. If you would like to use add metadata to your questions like keywords or instructor notes, return to Question Settings, check the Question Metadata box, and click Submit.
