Create an Ungraded VoiceThread Link

The following video, instructions, and imagery will guide you through the process of creating a link to a presentation in VoiceThread.

A VoiceThread link gives students access to a single thread and does not create a grading column in Moodle or Blackboard.



  1. If you haven’t done so, build your VoiceThread in VoiceThread Home. This allows the VoiceThread to be used in future semesters.


  2. Enter your Blackboard course and navigate to the content area where you would like to add the VoiceThread link.


  3. Hover your cursor over the Build Content button, and select VoiceThread 1.3 on the drop-down menu. This will open a new page.

  4. Click the Individual VT button.

  5. If you are using a VoiceThread that you have already created, select it from the list of VoiceThreads on the sidebar. If you are creating a new VoiceThread, click the Create new VoiceThread button at the top of the sidebar and follow the instructions provided.

  6. Click Make a New Copy to Share.




  7. Give the VoiceThread a new title and indicate which comments you would like to keep. In most cases, you will select Include only my comments. Click the Copy .

  8. Click Share with Class.

  1. If you haven’t done so, build your VoiceThread in VoiceThread Home. This allows the VoiceThread to be used in future semesters.

  2. Enter your Moodle Course and click on the green "Turn editing on" button at the top of the page to enter Edit Mode.

  3. Click the +Add an activity or resource link in the section where you would like to add the Home Link.

  4. Select External tool on the Activities list, then click on the Add button.

  5. Give the link a Name in the Activity name textbox, and select VoiceThread on the Preconfigured tool drop-down menu.

  6. Click the Save and display button to create the link.

  7. Click the Open in new window link.

  8. Click the Individual VoiceThread button.

  9. If you are using a VoiceThread that you have already created, select it from the list of VoiceThreads on the sidebar. If you are creating a new VoiceThread, click the Create new VoiceThread button at the top of the sidebar and follow the instructions provided.

  10. Click Make a New Copy to Share.
