Videos to a Discussion or Assignment


These instructions will guide you through embedding a Video into the Content Editor box in a discussion in Blackboard Learn. This feature is only available in Blackboard, and is not available in Moodle courses.

Adding Videos to Echo360

  1. Click on the Lecture Videos menu link within your Blackboard course.
    NOTE: If you do not see this link, please contact your instructor.

  2. Click the Echo360 logo on the left side of the page.

  3. Click the Upload button on the left side of the page.

  4. In the popup window, click Select Files to Upload, and navigate to a file on your computer that you would like to upload.

    Alternatively, click My Device, and select an alternate file saving program.

  5. After selecting your file, click Upload in the lower right of the popup.

Sharing Echo360 Videos in a Discussion Post with Mashups


  1. Click on the Discussions menu link within your Blackboard course.

  2. Click on the title of a discussion forum.

  3. Click Create Thread on the left side of the page.

  4. In the Subject text box, add a subject for your discussion post.

  5. Click on the Mashups button in the Visual Text Editor.

  6. Click Echo360 Video Library.

  7. Click on the video you want to add.

  8. Using the dropdown menu, select a video size.

  9. Click Insert.

  10. Add text in the Visual Text Editor as needed.

  11. Click Submit to submit your video discussion post.

    1. For Discussions, you can add a video to the textbox in a new post or in a response post.
    2. For Assignments, you can add a video to the textbox that appears after selecting the Write Submission button on the assignment page.

  12. Select the Add Content icon, which looks like a + sign inside of a circle. You may need to click the ... icon to open the full list of options. The Add Content pop-up will open.

  13. Select Echo360 Video Library.

  14. Select the Upload Existing Media tab.

  15. Click the Select Media button. Choose the video file that you would like to use from your computer.

  16. Click the Upload button. The video will take several minutes to upload, depending on the file's size and your internet speed. A progress bar will track the upload.

  17. Once the upload is complete, you will see a pop-up that says Files uploaded successfully. Click the close button to be brought back to the Echo360 Video Library pop-up.

  18. Select the video you uploaded from the list of videos. It will be highlighted. Click the Next button.

  19. Edit the options on the Embed Options page. The default settings will usually be appropriate, but these allow you to change the size of the video, when the video will start playing, and make other choices. Click the Insert button to return to Blackboard.

  20. The video will appear as a large box with the Echo360 logo. Click the Submit button to finalize the process.

Please note that Echo360 can take some time to finish processing the video after it has been uploaded. You will receive an email when it is available to watch.
