Record Feedback Comments

Instructors can include audio/video recordings up to five minutes long with their feedback for graded assignments. Feedback can be recorded directly through Blackboard. Recorded comments are not currently supported when grading with a rubric or with certain browsers (Firefox and Chrome are recommended).

  1. Enter the grading screen for the assignment via the Needs Grading screen or the Full Grade Center.
  2. In the Grading Panel, click the small bar below the Attempt box to open the Feedback to Learner section.

  3. Click the text icon (A) below the Feedback To Learner text box to open the full text editor.

  4. Click the microphone icon in the full text editor to open the Video Recording window. You may need to click the Show More button () in the upper right to view the microphone icon.

  5. Click the Allow button in the Video Recording window to allow Blackboard to access your microphone and/or camera for the recording. This pop-up window may appear differently depending on your browser.
    1. Firefox:

  6. If you would like to record video, click the camera icon at the bottom of the window. To record an audio-only comment, do not click on the camera icon.

  7. When you are ready to record, click the red circle icon at the bottom of the screen. This will start a short countdown. Begin recording your comment once the countdown completes.

  8. Click the Pause Recording button to temporarily stop the recording. Click the Resume Recording button to continue after pausing.

  9. Click the Stop Recording Button when you are done recording.

  10. Click the play button to review review your recording. Click the Save and exit button to save the recording, or the Delete Recording button to delete the recording.

  11. Rename the recording if needed. By default, the recording's name is based on the time and date.

  12. Click the Insert Recording button to complete the process and insert the recording into the feedback box.
  13. Click the Submit button in the Feedback to Learner box.

  14. Click the Submit button on the Grading Panel to make the feedback visible to the student(s).
