Attaching a File to a Discussion Post

You can attach a file to your discussion posts. This can be used for some assignments, such as adding a photo to an introduction post, or attaching a paper to a post for peer review.

1. Navigate to the discussion. This may be available through the Discussions link on the Course Menu, or may be within a group or another location in the course.
   
2. Click on the Name of the Forum where you will need to post the file.
   
3. Click the Create Thread button on the bar across the top of the Forum.
   
   
   1. Or, if you would like to attach the file to a reply, click on the Name of the Thread you are replying to, and then click the Reply button.
      
4. Give your Thread a name in the Subject text box. This is the name that will appear on the Forum page.
   
5. Enter a Message into the large text box under the Message header. This is the text the will appear as part of your discussion post.
   
6. Scroll down to the Attachments section and click the Browse My Computer button. This will open a popup that will allow you to browser your computer.
   
7. Navigate to the file you would like to upload, click on the file to highlight it, then click the Open button.
   
8. You may change the name of the link to the file that will appear under your post by changing the text in the Name of link to file text field.
   
9. Click the Submit button to submit your post.
